What kind of traveler am I?

As you can tell if you’ve read my other pages, I’m a planner. All my trips involve having limited time in a place and if I only have 2 days, or six meals, I like to make the most of them. I don’t travel with a fixed itinerary and strict time frames, but I do have a list of places I would definitely like to visit and then keep my eyes open for things along the way – a street vendor selling something delicious (see picture below), or a tourist site I haven’t heard of that happens to be next to somewhere else I’m going.

5 minutes later, the chickpea dough - with mint - is fried to perfection
Panelle, a type of chickpea pancake, from a street vendor in Palermo, Sicily.  Made fresh to order.  Within 5 minutes, the chickpea dough – with mint – is fried to perfection.

Some of the locations I visit are all clustered together in one neighborhood, and other times I trek across a city and don’t eat lunch until 3pm to be able to sample food at a particular restaurant. But don’t worry, you don’t need to be as crazy as I am to take advantage of the recommendations on this site. Most places I go are typical tourist attractions with great restaurants nearby, but as you’ll see, I often find that going the extra mile (sometimes literally) can have great rewards.

Happy travels!
